Welcome first-timers. This is going to be fun!
If you are a fun-loving person that has never skied or snowboarded before then this program is an absolute must. 2.5 million Canadians can't be wrong. Let's get you started.
Created specifically for first timers, our Discovery Program offers everything you need for the day so you can focus on learning and enjoying the alpine environment.
13 +
First timers who've never tried skiing or snowboarding before. This group lesson starts at the basics and moves through the beginner progression building good habits towards the novice level. It is not suitable for people who are looking to refine their existing skills on skis or a board.
If you already have some experience on snow, please see our Adult Group Lessons. Alternatively, you can try the discipline you are not familiar with e.g. someone with skiing experience who has never snowboarded can take a Discovery Snowboard lesson.
This is a one-time lesson. After you have taken a Discovery lesson you can then progress to a Next Step lesson, and on to our adult/youth group lessons.
Full Day: 9.30 AM - 3:30 PM
This program has a 1.5 hour lunch break from 12 PM to 1:30 PM to allow participants to warm up and have a healthy lunch.
Full Day Package: $225
If, at the time of lesson departure there is only one attendee in the group lesson, there will be an additional fee of $25 (plus applicable taxes) as the lesson has now become a private one-on-one lesson. This applies to all child and adult group lessons of all durations. The maximum charge possible in a single visit is $25 (plus applicable taxes). A credit card will be required for all bookings and will automatically be charged the additional necessary cost.
Unless stated otherwise, the lesson price is for instruction only. Lesson prices do not include equipment rentals or lift tickets with the exception of Discovery Lessons and the Next Step Program.
Yes. All lesson participants are required to have a valid lift ticket. You can add lift tickets to your lesson at a discounted rate when making your lesson booking. Tickets are free for kids 5 and under but still require a waiver and RFID card which you can complete at the Ski + Ride desk or at Guest Services.
Equipment rentals are not included in the lesson price. You can add rentals to your experience at a discounted rate at the time of the lesson booking. If you're adding rentals to your booking you will need to visit Mountain Outfitters in the upper village well before your lesson time to ensure you are ready to meet your instructor on time. If you or your children are taking a lesson on your own equipment please ensure it is properly fitted and in good condition e.g. waxed, sharpened, bindings tested etc. Equipment tuning is available at Mountain Outfitters.
We are located inside Ski Tip Lodge just past Guest Services. If you are coming up the stairs, we are on your right opposite the Great Hall.
The Ski + Ride Meeting Area is located at the base of the Little Ripper lift in the Discovery Zone. This is the pick up/drop off zone for all lessons.
Unless stated otherwise, the lunch break runs for an hour from 12 PM - 1 PM to allow participants time to warm up and have a healthy lunch. Please be on time to pick up your child for the 12 PM break. A supervised lunch option is available for children 6 - 12 years old, however spots are limited. If you or child is taking a full day group lesson please be punctual for the afternoon (after lunch) session to prevent delaying the group.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the same instructor every day for multi-day lesson programs due to staff scheduling, days off and conflicting lesson assignments/commitments. For private lessons, you can request a particular instructor and wherever possible we will accommodate the request. We are unable to take instructor requests for group lessons. Please let the Ski + Ride desk know if you'd like to request an instructor.
In order to participate in a Panorama Ski + Ride School program all children 18 and under, must wear a helmet. Helmet rentals are available at Mountain Outfitters. Helmets are strongly recommended for Adults.
Yes, all participants must sign a lesson waiver which is in addition to a lift ticket waiver. You will find a link to an electronic waiver in your lesson confirmation email or when booking online. If you have been unable to sign your lesson waiver online ahead of time please swing by the Ski + Ride desk in Ski Tip Lodge 15 minutes prior to your lesson. If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian will need to sign a lesson waiver on their behalf.
