Panorama Named North American Resort of the Year

2016 World Snow Award Winners Announced

PANORAMA, B.C. – October 27, 2016 – Panorama Mountain Resort has been awarded North American Resort of the Year in the 2016 World Snow Awards presented by The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard.

Panorama's 2,847 acres of patrolled terrain boasts 125 trails, the Taynton Bowl, Extreme Dream Zone, and two terrain parks. New for this season, the resort will unveil an additional 16.2 acres of expert double black diamond backcountry-style terrain in Taynton Bowl, bringing this epic territory in-bounds. An investment of $120,000 improves Panorama's off-piste offering with new glading on both the front and backside of the mountain, which will further open up Panorama's massive acreage to provide new experiences for guests.

Established five years ago, the World Snow Awards honours the very best in the world of skiing and snowboarding, recognizing the most outstanding brands, retailers, resorts, operators, venues and personalities in the industry, as well as highlighting the top performers from the past 12 months. Panorama was selected over three other finalists - including Whistler Blackcomb, Mont Tremblant Ski Resort and Breckenridge Ski Resort - for the award that recognizes continued improvement in service to the public. Panorama's president and CEO Steve Paccagnan was at The Telegraph's Ski and Snowboard Show ceremony to receive the award in London, UK, earlier today.

"It's an honour to be in London and accept this prestigious award on behalf of our resort community," said Paccagnan. "Over the past couple of years Panorama has injected more than $10 million dollars of improvements into the resort, but it's the work our team does to take care of our guests that really impressed the panel of judges. This World Snow award shows we are on the right track, and we're more determined than ever to keep improving."

With 23 awards being presented, the winners were decided by a judging panel of leading figures in the snow industry, as well as a public vote. The panel of judges considered improvements that were made by the resort over the past 12 months. Panorama has been working hard to develop a new culture of customer service throughout the resort, and improve the experience of guests both on and off the mountain. Throughout the year, enhancements to resort infrastructure, signage, mountain access and the beautification of public areas, along with big changes in the way that customers interact with the resort online and through Central Reservations has made a positive impact for guests. In addition to winning North American Resort of the Year, Panorama was also shortlisted for Best Snowsports School. To learn more about these developments and what's new at Panorama, click here.

"There are so many people who share this World Snow Award with us," said Marke Dickson, Panorama's director of Sales, Marketing and Guest Services. "Some of our best partners were nominated too, and they certainly deserve credit for helping Panorama improve and grow. The finalists for Best North American Resort are names we consider to be industry leaders, so we're thrilled with the win."

Panorama Mountain Resort will open to the public for the 2016-17 season on December 9. To book or inquire about accommodation packages and custom options, call 1.800.663.2929.
